Javier is single handedly the best art professor governors state has to offer. A painting master that exhibits a the mexican fine arts museum and is in a traveling exhibit along side diego rivera and frida khalos work. He is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about contemporary art. His art history class may be a bit dry, but worth taking. You will come out of that class with an increased knowledge on art. He is easy to talk to, nice, and in my art history class he was clear on his expectations for the mid-term and finals. Javier wants quality and quantity, he likes when you compare and contrast artist from the course. He is more interested in making sure that you know the material than your grammer. Be prepared to write alot about art, not an easy class. But if you are a serious artist this is a must take class.
Javier did not make expectations clear in this mandatory GRAD Art History class. No idea what he was looking for on paper or papers. Very dull, read from notes during courses, monotone. Might be great painting instructor but not great with art history.
Javier is very accommodating and honest. He gives great advice for aspiring artists. I recommend him. |
